Whilst studying for a BA (Hons) degree in sculpture
at Kingston Polytechnic she was awarded the Stanley Picker Travelling
Scholarship to Soviet Central Asia for dissertation research.
Upon graduating with a first class degree in 1988, this trip fuelled
the desire for travel and in 1990 she left the UK to live and work in
Istanbul, Turkey.
During her 12 years in Istanbul she worked and exhibited extensively
during a period of great flux in the country’s development.
Developing her multi-disciplinary practice, whilst engaging with artists
in both Turkey and Europe she developed sculpture, drawing and photographic
works.
